Exhibits in Rome: Pierre Auguste Renoir. Tradition and Innovation
Rome dedicates an exhibit to the famous Renoir at the Vittoriano monument. The exhibit is open to the public from March 7 to June 29, 2008.
It aims to describe the relations that Pierre Auguste Renoir had with Italy, always considered the birthplace of Classic art, with works from museums and collections throughout the world. One hundred and fifty of the artist's works will be on display, including bright and colorful paintings, typical of the Impressionist current.
The exhibit dedicated to the French artist who preferred painting "en plen air" traces the 40 years of his artistic activities. Some of his most loved subjects include a large number of female nudes as well as drawings, oil paintings and sculptures. The retrospective, edited by art historian Kathleen Adler and organized by Alessandro Nicosia, is entitled Pierre Auguste Renoir. Tradition and Innovation and describes the genius of the master able to combine tradition and innovation.
